Snowshoeing

Hiking doesn't have to stop in the winter. If you enjoy visiting wild areas you'll be thrilled to know that snowshoeing can be a fun, safe and and beautiful way to experience the marvels of backcountry winters. The relative ease of snowshoeing allows folks to venture into the winter wilderness without the required years of ski and snowboard training.   Let MAS guide you safely and comfortably through spectacular winter scenery and experience for yourself the thrills of backcountry snowshoeing.

All MAS programs provide snowshoes, avalanche safety equipment and group gear as needed. Expect a blend of winter skills education, good exercise plus time to enjoy the winter alpine environment.

Add some adventure to your stay in Bear Valley with this fun and educational backcountry snowshoe adventure.  Stomp through a snow covered wilderness and soak in the splendors of an alpine environment.  Learn about the fundamentals of snowshoeing and refine your techniques while MAS guide introduce avalanche awareness and safe winter route finding.  Typical "Snowshoe Adventures" travel 3-5 miles in non-motorized areas bordering the Mokelumne & Carson Iceberg Wilderness.  The scenic vistas are world-class so don't miss out on this unique opportunity to travel into the winter wonderland in Bear Valley.

"I had no idea snowshoeing was so much fun!  Our guide was professional, educational and fun.  We learned a lot, kept moving and were challenged appropriately.  I can't wait to come back!"  (Josie McCormick - 2004)
