Small guided groups utilizing the "Bear Tracker Snowcat", chairlifts and gravity fed traverses access "sidecountry" terrain adjacent to the ski area for great uncrowded and often untracked slopes. The "Bear Tracker Snowcat" is a specially outfitted snowcat which transports up to 8 people comfortably with 2 guides to terrain that is often "closed" and provides quick access to some of the best snow on the mountain. The convenience of having a snowcat greet you at the bottom of a fresh powder run and transport you back to the top is unmatched.

Back by popular demand, MAS is offering guided sidecountry adventures which utilize chairlifts, traverses and short hikes to access "sidecountry" terrain adjacent to the traditional ski boundaries. These programs operate when conditions are prime so keep an eye on the website or send us your email for special notifications when trips are " " a GO.".

This exciting program is intended for strong advanced and expert skiers seeking adventure. Small guided groups enter a "closed" area known as "The Zones" with steep chutes, open bowls and descents of up to 1000 vertical feet. While no hiking is required, a high traverse prohibits snowboarders most of the time. On occasion conditions permit special programs appropriate for snowboarders so keep an eye on the website.

During the Spring MAS offers snowcat skiing and snowboarding programs at Bear Valley Mountain Resort after the lifts are closed. Explore both in bounds and sidecountry terrain with the assistance of a snowcat and local ski guides. How about standing at the top of Grizzly Bowl with only a handful of enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders and a snowcat waiting at the bottom to sweep you for another run?
