The 8th Annual Bear Valley Telemark Festival is steamrolling ahead into the central Sierra Nevada for an extended weekend of technical clinics, demos, backcountry tours, banquets, slide shows, live music and of course dancing. MAS is preparing for 250 telemark skiers to descend on the small alpine village of Bear Valley from February 6th - 8th, 2004.

This year MAS has hired more topnotch professional ski instructors & guides than ever before. Beginning through expert skiers will find a number of clinics, demos and activities to match their skills levels and objectives.

There are still spaces left in all events but don't wait until the last minute. For your convenience, online registration is now available on our website, as well as sending in your registration forms via fax and mail.

If you have any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact MAS. We love to talk about our work!

How to maximize your festival experience: whether you are a festival veteran or attending for the first time, the following hints and tips can help you get the most out of the Bear Valley Telemark Festival.

Register Early - don't wait until the last minute. Each year a number of folks get bummed out when we have to tell them that parts of the festival is closed. Keep in mind that Friday Workshops, Saturday Banquet and Sunday Tours sellout first.

Lodging - finding a warm bed in Bear Valley can be difficult for late comers. When Bear Valley and Tamarack accommodations fill up, many festival participants find rooms in Arnold (0.5 hr), Murphys (0.75 hr) and Angles Camp (1 hr). Another great option is to use the free snowcamping site at the Bear Valley Cross Country Center. Showers at BaseCamp for $5.

Be Prepared & On Time - you should be prepared for all weather conditions. Instructors cannot wait for a few unorganized individuals. Check the equipment lists on the registration forms before you leave home.

Take Care of Yourself & Others - each year some folks miss out on festival events due to tardiness, exhaustion, illness and dehydration. Keep in mind that you can't do everything during the festival and you need to pace yourself.

Be Patient and Courteous - the festival is crowded and the Bear Valley services run a little slower during busy times. Budget a little extra time to travel, park, and eat so your stress level does not rise and interfere with yours, and others, festival experience.
