Freshies
freshies   New Snow ! Best storm of the season just dumped a foot of snow on Wednesday December 27th. The storms onset was warm (wet snow) but got progressively colder (dry snow) making for excellent skiing. The snowpack is still a bit thin but this latest storm provided good coverage, especially at the ski resort.

Backcountry Update: (12/29/2006) The backcountry conditions near Bear Valley are good. Yesterdays strong north winds transported a lot of snow onto the leeward slopes aiding coverage on the leeward (south) slopes. Significant wind slabs still exist on north facing slopes so use caution above tree line (more info.).   avalanche
