Rockcraft Seminars

MAS Rockcraft Seminars are two day courses in Bear Valley designed to raise your rock climbing to the next level. Through a blend of instructional clinics and free climbing learn valuable outdoor climbing skills from professional and friendly instructors. Bear Valley is the ideal setting for these seminars with quick and easy access to uncrowded cliffs with a variety of climbing challenges. These small group classes are an MAS specialty.

rock climbing class Basic Rockcraft Seminar  top

Whether it's your first time climbing or it has just been awhile, this is a great way to experience outdoor rock climbing with friendly and professional instructors. Starting with the basics of belaying and movement this program expands to learning how to set-up your own top-ropes for future climbing adventures.

Skills Covered:

  • Climbing equipment use and care
  • Top-rope belay skills & commands
  • Outdoor rock climbing techniques
  • Rappeling
  • Intro. to top rope anchor set-up & evaluation
Basic Rock Climbing
This two day program can be split up by taking the Intro. to Outdoor Rock Climbing followed by the "Take it Outside" Workshop.

Take your climbing to the next level during this skills rich program covering both outdoor anchoring and lead climbing. Gain a solid foundation for future outdoor rock endevours. This is a great course for indoor climbers to make the transition to outdoor climbing.

  • Build and evaluate anchors
  • Link anchors into "bombproof" systems
  • Lead climbing strategies
  • Rope handling and forces
  • Rappelling
Traditional Anchors
This two day program can be split up by taking the Anchors Workshop followed by the Lead Climbing Workshop.

Further your outdoor rock climbing knowledge to include rescue and multi-pitch skills during this intensive 2-day program. Learn these important techniques through "hands-on" training in a small group setting.

  • Improvised ascending & descending
  • Lowering & rappelling past a knot
  • Multi-pitch route and gear considerations
  • Belay station methods and management
  • Rappelling
