top

Phantom Spires offers great 1-2 pitch climbing on excellent granite in the South Lake Tahoe region only a short distance from Lovers Leap.  A mixture of knobby faces (aka - chicken heads) and demanding crack systems offer a variety of climbing challenges for the 5.6-5.11 climber. There are three main spires that range from 100 to 200 feet tall.  A fun and challenging goal is to "summit" all three spires in a day.  Are you up for the challenge?

"A great day was had by all in our group. Everybody was challenged in our diverse group. We look forward to learning more about outdoor rock climbing with MAS" (Melanie from Planet Granite - 2006)

carabinerSugarloaf Multi-Pitch Adventure top

Sugarloaf is a great winter, spring & fall climbing site located at 4000 feet above the small town of Kyburz on Highway 50 near South Lake Tahoe. Sugarloaf offers a mix of single and multi-pitch routes up to 350 feet tall.  The rock is clean granite with both crack and face climbs. This is  a great place to learn more multi-pitch climbing, practice your crack climbing skills and simply enjoy a new location with a professional guide.

"This place is rad! The guide (Aaron) helped me push my crack climbing skills and showed me some cool anchoring stuff for my own climbing trips." (Mark Gillian - 2007)
